Extremely rare 1978 Corvette Indy Pace Car coupe(numbers matching). ONLY 56,215 original miles!!!! The corvette is #2991 out of 6,502. From the factory this car came with the following options: 1YZ87/78 Limited Edition Pace Car, (A31) power windows, (AU3) Power Locks, (CC1) Removeable T-tops, (C49 rear defroster, (C60) Air Conditioning, (D35) Sport mirrors, (FE7) Gymkhana Suspension, (M21) Rare 4 speed manual transmission (close to 90% + of the Indy Pace cars came with automatic trans and the smaller L48 engine) The body came painted with the two tone black and silver paint (19/47) which is original so it will eventually need to be repainted. Under the hood this Corvette features the L-82 350ci/220 hp engine with the factory smog hook up still in place. The engine runs good but will most likely require a good tune up as it has been sitting inside my garage for over a year. This Indy Pace Car Corvette has the rare Munchie M21 close ratio 4 speed manual transmission (thought to be 1 of only 300 and 1 of ? L82 with 4 speed trans) that works properly and shifts smooth into every gear. The interior is the Pace Car Silver (152) and has leather seats. All gauges work except the clock(I believe the prior owner disconnected the power to the clock to hook up the CD player) This rare highly collectible Corvette comes with its original owners manual & all other accompanying docs, several repro window stickers, and copies of all dealer paperwork/build sheet, order form, etc. Note I also have all the original Indy Pace Car Decals which were never installed and are still in their original boxes This is the highly sought after 1978 Indy Pace Car with the L-82 engine and 4 speed transmission that runs and drives good. I encourage all possible buyers to come and look at the car in person as it is being sold "AS IS". What the car needs: 1) A good tune up since it has been sitting in my garage for over a year. 2) Drivers side seat track needs to be replaced as it keeps slipping.(car comes with new refurbished drivers & passenger seat tracks) 3) This is an original numbers matching Corvette with no major signs of rust. However it is an original car form 1978 so it will eventually need a new interior and a paint job. 4) New exhaust manifolds. Unfortunately when the car was delivered to me by a tow truck driver who had attached one of his chains to the exhaust system which caused both exhaust manifold to crack. The exhaust system is in good condition but just needs to be adjusted. However I have since purchased custom hi- performance headers and dual exhaust system, still new in the boxes. They come with the car. 5) Rear Antenna needs to be replaced. Sale comes with a working rear antenna as well as the original factory CB/Radio. 6) Passenger T-Top is cracked but not leaking.
